The better you get, the worse it feels.
There's a reason for that.
You've trained the technique. Now train the feeling.
Ching Kao, PhD — Cognitive Neuroscience, Stanford. Professional Latin Ballroom R.S. Finalist. Twenty years coaching Pro/Am women. The feeling is the part I care about most.
You worked hard to perfect your technique. But come performance time, you couldn't pull out the feeling. The expression.
Look at what we actually ask of you. We taught you the steps. The choreography. The footwork. The legwork. The timing. The alignment.
You've spent the bulk of your practice on huge To-Do list of technical details.
Then you walk out under the lights, and you're supposed to:
- FEEL?
- PEFORM?
- EXPRESS?
- on cue, in front of people?!
Nobody puts that part on the practice schedule.
And then you get the feedback. Be more confident. More charismatic. More expressive.
These are enormous, abstract words. And so personal. How does a person even train that?
Moving the Spotlight
This is happening to EVERYONE. This is not a You problem. This is a process problem, and it's simpler than you think.
Form AND Feeling. That's the whole game. And you've only been dancing only one.
Expression, too, is a SKILL. Same way footwork is a skill. Which means it can be:
- systematized
- taught
- drilled
- and improved.
Expression is something you could learn.
And I know what some of you are thinking, because I hear it every week: some women are just natural performers, and I'm not one of them.
Expression is a birthright. We all came in with it.
Even babies are expressive. Zero technique. Full of feeling and expression.
We just learned to turn it down — in the service of getting it right. Which was a reasonable thing to do. But that expressiveness is IN THERE. We just have to pull it back out.
Can I really learn to express?
A twelve-year-old figure skater came to me ranked 3rd regionally on technique. Around 100th on artistry. One year later — top ten in artistry. Her technique never changed.
A woman who'd danced seven years, still competing Bronze, getting more self-conscious every season. She came to me for technique and climbed to Gold. That part took five years. But, it only took six months of prioritizing feelings and developing her personal expression for her to say:
"For the first time ever, I LIKE me. And it FEELS good when I dance."
Here's why the results were so fast.
Attention is a spotlight. And you only get one. When the spotlight is on the mirror, checking your shapes, it cannot also be on what you FEEL.
Your outside form and your inside experience are asking for the same light. Only one of them gets it.
So we move the spotlight. Towards internal processes.
Now you'll LOOK good and FEEL good too.
The Promise
In 90 minutes, you'll:
- Learn three beliefs that have kept your expression on hold
- Get a simple 5-step process that moves your spotlight from external form to internal expression
- Find exactly where you sit on the EHM Embodiment Cycle — learning how to express becomes an easy roadmap to follow instead of an abstract concept.
Without learning a single new step.
I don't touch your choreography. Nothing here competes with what you're building in your lessons. This is all complementary.
The Extra Bling
Here's some extra bonuses you'll be receiving along with the live experience.
Bonus #1: The Spotlight Drill Card One page.
The Spotlight drill written out, step by step, so you can call up your feeling-self on demand. Any time. Any where.
Bonus #2: The EHM Expression Quiz
Find out which of your five personas is ready to come alive — before we even start, so you walk in already knowing something about yourself.
Bonus #3: Access to the EHM Community
Bonus #4: The Replay
Yours for 72 Hours. Life happens. If you can't be there live, or you want to run the drill again, the full recording lands in your inbox the next day and stays open for three days.
This Is For You If You're
- A Pro/Am ballroom woman, roughly Bronze through Gold, dancing in any style
- Several years and real money into your dancing — genuinely good at the technical work, and ready for the dancing to feel as good as it looks
- Want to level up your performance and be more expressive
- Ready to stop waiting until you're "good enough" to express
- Curious about what your dancing looks like when you own YOU
Logistics
This is a LIVE, 90-minute workshop. ONLINE. Equal parts knowledge and movement.
Two Chances to Feel!
(1) Tuesday, August 25 @ 11:30 AM (10:30 CST, 8:30 PST)
(2) Wednesday, September 9 @ 11:30 AM (10:30 CST, 8:30 PST)
Where?
This is a live ONLINE workshop. Trust, even through a computer screen, you'll feel the difference. Actually, being in the privacy of your home away from the studio mirrors will help shift the spotlight inward towards your own experience instead of worrying about what you look like. So, I get it if you take the course with the camera off. Just remember to turn it back on during the Q&A section!
Investment: $47 USD
Can't make it live? The full replay lands in your inbox the next day.
AND ONE MORE THING, BECAUSE I'D RATHER YOU KNOW GOING IN
In the workshop, you're getting the map and one tool.
The map is the EHM Embodiment Cycle — KNOW → FEEL → EXPRESS → AMPLIFY — so you can see the whole road and exactly where you're at. The tool is the Spotlight Shift, so you can immediately shift from form- to feeling-focused. The implementation is a different thing.
At the end I'll tell you about Embody Her Expression — six weeks, ten seats, where we do KNOW and FEEL stages of the cycle in depth. Founding rate open until seats are filled.
Zero obligation. The 90-min workshop stands on its own, and you'll leave with something that works whether you ever hear from me again.
I'm telling you now so it isn't a surprise later.
Come find out what your dancing feels like when it's YOURS.
You already have the technique. You paid for it, you drilled it, you earned it.
The feeling is the other half. And it's trainable. And it takes ninety minutes to start.
Move beyond technique. Dance from within. Become YOU.
